Brian Tracy: Just Shut Up and Do It!

Your aim in life should be to achieve all of the wonderful things that are possible for you. There is no reason for you not to be earning twice as much as you are today, or even five or ten times as much. Your potential is practically limitless, if you could just learn how to utilize it.

Aristotle: "Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence."

GOAL SETTING AND HAPPINESS
Behind every goal is another goal, until you finally reach the main goal: to be happy.
You can measure your level of success by the percentage of time in which you are genuinely happy and happiness is the progressive realisation of a worthy goal or ideal.

CHANGING BAD HABITS
95% of what you do, or fail to do, is determined by your habits.
Your biggest obstacle to success is negative habits and the worst habits of all are based on your self-limiting beliefs: you believe yourself to be limited in some way even though it is not true.

Where does the root of helplessness come from?
80% of the population become passive due to childhood experiences where their parents tell them "No!" or "Stop that" or "Get away from there!" or "Don't touch that!". Sometimes these experiences even end in physical punishment and later on the growing child would soon feel incompetent, incapable, weak and afraid to try anything new or different.

Bad habits are easy to form but hard to live with while good habits are hard to form but easy to live with.
Start by eliminating "failure's language" from your vocabulary:
-Refuse to say things like "I'll try..." or "I'll do my best."
-Refuse to live on Fantasy Island and say things like "Someday I'll..."

TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE
-Accept 100% responsibility for the person you are today, including everything you have accomplished or haven't accomplished.
-Escape from dependency. Do not keep the mindset of "someone is coming to the rescue."
-Get rid of negative emotions and your mind will automatically be filled with positive emotions like peace, joy and happiness.
-Stop blaming others. Whenever you feel angry or upset about anyone or anything, say "I am responsible." These words put you back in the driver's seat.
-As you accept responsibility, you will think about the process, the reasons and learn through the experience.
-The rule of happiness is to never be upset or angry about something that you cannot change.

DARE TO GO FORWARD
One of the most important requirements for success is action orientation.
Action orientation: the internal motivation to get going immediately on a goal or project.
The obstacles that stop you from taking action immediately are the fear of failure, loss, embarrassment, criticism, ridicule... and the way you can overcome your fear is to develop firm levels of courage and self-confidence:
-Deliberately do the things that fear you.
-Do these things over and over again until you have overcome the fear.
-Never do anything based on what other people may think of you. The fact is, no one is thinking about you at all.
-Treat it as "learning experiences" rather than "failures."

FOUR STEPS TO SUCCESS
1. Decide what you want to do.
2. Take action immediately.
3. Fail and learn quickly.
4. Try it again, over and over, until you succeed.

DECIDE WHAT YOU REALLY WANT
-You become what you think about.
-People only begin to become great when they decide upon their major definite purpose in life.
-One of the worst mistakes you can make is thinking that your wish is a goal.
-Focus single-mindedly on your most important goal and you will progress on your other goals simultaneously.

OVERCOME PROCRASTINATION
All success come from task completion.
Get started and complete it as soon as possible.

Like the other bad habits, procrastination is a learned behaviour and this habit is the reason why most people don't succeed. You must consciously decide that you will not do low-value activities until you have completed your higher-value tasks.

BECOME A LIFELONG LEARNER
The main obstacles to success are doubts and fears and knowledge and skills are the only antidotes. Many of the biggest mistakes that people make come from acting without having gathered enough information.

The law of probabilities state that there is a probability that anything can happen.
The more knowledge and skills you have about a certain subject, the higher your chances are of succeeding.

NEVER GIVE UP
There are two parts of success: the first is get started and the second one is keep going.
The more you persist, the stronger you become.
The more you are able to persist, the more you discipline yourself.
The more you discipline yourself to persist in the face of adversity, the more you will like and respect yourself.
Which makes you feel more powerful.
Every failure of persistence and self-discipline weakens you in in every other area as well. Program your subconscious mind to never give up so when a setback occurs it will remind you that you said you will never give up even if you forget about.
Simply repeat the words “I am unstoppable!” to yourself, over and over. Then, no matter what happens, refuse to stop until you achieved your goal.

Just shut up and do it.
